Problems we help with
- Irregular periods: cycles shorter than 21 days or longer than 35 days, or periods that come at unpredictable times
- Heavy bleeding: soaking a pad every one or two hours, passing large clots, or bleeding for more than 7 days
- Painful periods: pain that stops you from going to school, college or work
- Missed periods when you are not pregnant
- Bleeding between periods or after intercourse
- White discharge with itching, a bad smell or a change in colour
Common causes
Period problems often come from hormonal changes, thyroid problems, PCOS, stress or a sudden change in weight. Others are caused by fibroids or polyps in the womb, infections, or certain medicines. Finding the cause is the first step to the right treatment.
What happens at your visit
Dr. Surabhi will ask about your cycles and symptoms and, if needed, examine you in private. Blood tests (such as haemoglobin and thyroid) or an ultrasound may be advised. You will leave with a clear explanation and a treatment plan.
Before your visit, it helps to note the start and end dates of your last three periods.
See a doctor soon if you have
- Bleeding heavy enough to make you dizzy, breathless or very tired
- A missed period when pregnancy is possible
- Any bleeding after menopause
- Sudden severe pain in the lower abdomen
